Office to Home - Flooding streets

By now you must have seen the horrific images of what had happened to this city. Its been raining so heavily since afternoon, but none gave it so much importance as was needed. It all began with cell phone thrown out of network. We like any other mumbaites, who are bound to time lines still dint got a hint of what was on the way. By evening it started to rain much heavily.
At around 19:00 PM we after a long wait of our regular vehicle, we got a chance to be in it. What we dint expect was a horrific traffic jam awaiting us on the SV road. It took us almost two hours to reach to the nearest connecting road which leads to high way. By the now we could see a Sea of water on the road and most of people were in jammed buses which were already overcrowded. It was already dark and we were in the midst of huge traffic.
But we had the comfort of a Tata Sumo , which other didn't have. We couldnot even invite the others to our sumo since it was already full.
It was quite late by now and some of us started feeling bored.Saksham saw an open shop and brought some biscuits. That quite really was a breather for us.
The water level was rising sharply and we could see the car ahead of us getting submerged. The driver making his best effort so that the car doesnot get stuck. We could see the water rising above its silencer and producing a fountain of light.
We could hardly move 10 meters that we were mobbed by a crowd. They were in a bad mood. They asked take a U turn. We had almost spent 3 hours in the traffic by now and taking a U turn at point was out of our question. We came to know that the people in the mob were drunk and had no respect for our problem. The behaviour on their part wasn't pleasing, they were using abusive words and were very furious. It was first time that I had seen mumbai people displaying a rude behaviour. Perhaps it wasn't easy to bear the heavy rains which had flooded their house. Finally, they removed the air from the tyres and we had no other choice but to leave the sumo. Then we started a long journey to one of our colleagues house. First time we were walking in this heavy rain since our journey started.
When we reached Manish's house we all were wet. But luck was on our side and Manish's outfit was 'one size fits all' case. It was a nice feeling to be in dry cloths again. The best was yet to follow we had Khichdi(Indian dish made of dal and rice), easiest dish to cook. It was cooked in a cooker which was manufactured during partition(Indo-Pak). It was made by a group of expert chefs who would give complex to cooks of Taj. It was one of the best Khichdi I had ever tasted, since we were so hungry. We could not reach anyone over the phone as all the networks were jammed due to rain.
It was raining heavily the whole night.
After having a quick nap at Manish house, again it was the same walk to our home. This time it was easier because it wasnt raining and every body around us was walking. We had realised that on this day, half of mumbai population had spent the night in such conditions miles away from home. On the way we saw all the vehicle parked on the side of the road. Some of the vehicles had had a bad accident. All were walking home peaceful craking jokes which rightly refleceted the spirit of Bombay.
A long walk to home and we reached our homes at 10:30 AM next day.
Here are some pics of us through our travel and finally spending night at one of our colouges house.
